2013-03-15 Liam Hans Egbert

Michelle went into labor 3 weeks early - she prayed herself into labor when the OB ultrasound suggested too much fluid putting pressure on the baby. She remembered Natalie and Brian's experience with Grant. We started driving as soon as we heard she was in labor. Liam was delivered by C-section as expected but had difficulty inflating his lungs. He spent the first two days in the NICU. Liam was 18 inches long and weighted 6 pounds. Michelle did well, but her fifth C-section is a major trauma. She's recovering well. Grandma orchestrated Liam's first bath with many helpers. We spent a week assisting in child care and driving children to school and other activities.

2013-03-27 Thomas received his mission call

Thomas invited us over to the Fords for the opening of his mission call. He will serve in the Tokyo South mission entering the missionary training center August 7, 2013. Many of his friends from East HS have or will soon receive their mission calls as well. Opening the call was an exciting and moving experience for us all. Japan was a surprise for us all. We took this photo a few months before Thomas turned 18. Little did we know that within a year he would be serving a mission. Liam Hans Egbert, our youngest grandson, was born March 15, 2013 in Colorado Springs. Our oldest grandson leaves for Japan when our youngest is 3 months old.

2013-03-05 Newport Coast with the Heath family

Natalie and Brian joined us at the Newport Coast Marriott for a couple of nights. We had wonderful weather for a couple of days and we enjoyed the pool and the sport court. On the putting green Ava missed a ball and hit Elsa in the nose with her putter. It could've been worse. We went out to dinner in Laguna Beach with Brian and Natalie, leaving the Heath girls to tend Anders and watch a movie.

2013-02-28 Golfing with the Seals

We golfed at Indian Wells GC in Palm Springs with Greg and Suzanne Seal, but starting in the afternoon didn't allow us to finish the full 18 holes which was fine with Paula. Paula hit a line drive shot that beaned Suzanne in the back of her neck. Suzanne was in a sand bunker in front of Paula but way right of her. Paula shanked her shot and clunked Suzanne. We got some ice and Suzanne finished the round but had a stiff neck for the rest of our stay with them. The golf course was beautiful - doesn't look much like a desert.

2013-03-03 Church with Lindsay Starr and her new husband

While we vacationed with the Seals we met up with Lindsay Starr and her new husband Blaine Hendricksen for dinner at Pacifica, a trendy restaurant in the El Paseo district of Palm Desert, followed by dessert at their home in Rancho Mirage at 13 Stephen Terrace. They met and married a year ago - Lindsay's nephew is married to Blaine's daughter - after losing their spouses to cancer. Paula spent the next morning shopping with Lindsay while I played golf with the Seals. We met them prior to church in Palm Springs, in the ward where Blaine was bishop until sometime last year.
